Source: myok.org Author: nickmutt Published date: 2008-04-26
Aphrodisiac is a word derived from the name of the ancient Greek goddess Aphrodite, goddess of love, fertility and sexual rapture. As sexual appetite and fertility are both linked to nutrition; so if a person is properly fed he or she will more likely to be able to conceive successfully, whilst a malnourished person will be not only less fertile, but less libidinous.

Some commonly known aphrodisiacs are onions, pepper, garlic or ginger. Onions probably work superb to enhance the mood for sex when both partners partake of this special ingredient. Other well known natural substances widely used to awake the fire of passion are Spanish fly, Yohimbe, Ginseng and Kava Kava

However, before employing such substances one should be very careful because not all of them are safe. The Spanish fly is a toxin substance and works by irritating the water passages in the bladder. Yohimbe is known to increase blood pressure, which is considered unsafe for people who suffer from heart disease.

Basil, clove, tomato, oats, asparagus, fresh onion, chestnut, hazelnut, pistachio nut, coconut, radish, celery, egg, carrot, red pepper, cucumber, oyster, caviar are main foods to improve your sexual desire. Foods containing vitamin E like pistachio, almond, hazelnut and walnut are also natural boosters for impotence and erectile dysfunction.

Bananas are also a natural aphrodisiac because of their high potassium and vitamin B contents which are said to be essential for the production of certain sex-related hormones. Besides vegetable and herbs aphrodisiac, vitamins are helpful for a successful sex life. Especially vitamin E is vital for men. Vitamins like B complex, B1 (thiamin), B2 (riboflavin), and B3 (niacin) are also good for increasing sex drives.

Sea products are also well known aphrodisiacs. Sea products contain important minerals like iodine, calcium, magnesium and iron. They are concentrated sources of proteins, microelements and minerals.

Don't eat lot of fried foods especially French toasts, fried bacon, fried potatoes. Avoid drinking too much coffee. And if you smoke, lower your daily dose. All these will help you to make your moments with your love special.
